Infinite

An endless solo run against the oxygen gauge. Obvious answers slowly drain the tank, rare ones refill it, and the run ends when it hits empty.

What it is

Infinite is the solo mode for players who want a long run. There's no fixed number of prompts: you keep going as long as you have oxygen, and your furthest distance is kept as your best. It's found under SOLO on the home screen.

An Infinite run on a phone: the oxygen gauge full at 100, the prompt Name a film set in Los Angeles, and an answer box

How the oxygen works

  • You start with a full tank of 100.
  • Every prompt costs 20 to start with, and a little more the further out you are (one extra for every 100 points).
  • A missed answer, or running out of time, costs 10 more.
  • Right answers give oxygen back, more the rarer they are: nothing for Liftoff, 4 for Space junk, 15 for Orbit, 26 for Deep space, 37 for Interstellar and 50 for a Supernova.

So a run of Liftoff answers lasts about five prompts, while a steady stream of Deep space answers keeps you going for a long time. The clock tightens too: it starts at 25 seconds and drops by a second every three prompts, down to 10.

Tips

Early on, safe Orbit answers are fine; the tank is full. As the cost of each prompt creeps up you need Deep space and better to stay afloat, so that's when your best knowledge matters. If you get stuck on a topic, it's better to give a sure Orbit answer than gamble on a miss, which costs double. The rules page explains the tiers in full.

Who it's for

Anyone who likes chasing a high score. It plays well in short bursts on a phone, and it's a good way to get a feel for how rare different answers are before a party. For a set seven prompts instead, try themed missions.
