Updates
What has changed in Nichenaut since launch, newest first. Small fixes happen most days; these are the ones players will notice.
Have an idea or found something broken? Tell us on the feedback page. A lot of the changes below started there.
- Secret characters’ own trails and landings can now be picked in the locker like any other.
- The locker shows what you’re wearing as soon as a tab opens, and a banner now sits in front of everything.
- Weeks now start on Monday at 00:00 GMT for weekly boards, leaders and the crew race.
- Your day streak and the pass’s daily challenges now reset at your own local midnight.
- Crew rewards pay more: bigger expedition stages and race prizes, and the week’s top flyer earns more in a busy crew.
- Over 800 more Supernova answers, so prompts that had only one or two now have more to find.
- The "name an emotion or feeling" list rebuilt from scratch.
- Crew chat, and first mates who can help the captain run a crew.
- Answer checks in multiplayer are faster, and an answer sent in the last seconds is never cut off by the check.
- Public rooms: host a room anyone can join, and FIND A ROOM on the home screen to browse open ones.
- Simpler host setup. Rules most hosts never touched are gone; appeals and the best answer vote are still under more options.
- Add friends straight from a player’s card.
- A supporters wall to thank everyone who bought a support pack.
- Big rounds reveal answers in neater groups, and long answers and names no longer get cut off.
- The reveal feels calmer: no full-screen flash, a short charge before Deep space and rarer answers land.
- Shop keys show at a glance whether you have enough coins.
- Open Orbit rooms now hold 50 players.
- Today’s mission changes at 00:00 GMT for everyone.
- Log in with Apple, alongside Google.
- Crews hold up to 24 players, and you can have up to 200 friends.
- Friend requests you’ve sent can be cancelled.
- Today’s mission: the same seven prompts for everyone, once a day, with a chart of how everyone did.
- Battle pass season 1, with a free track for everyone and an optional premium track.
- A SHARE key in the lobby sends the room link straight from your phone.
- Standings on phones show the leader, the player just above you and you.
- Support packs: an optional way to help pay for the servers, with a few cosmetic thank-yous.
- New store, refunds, terms and privacy pages.
- A new profile, a dressing-room locker and a new crew tab.
- Weekly leaders: the top player and top crew of each week get a badge and a mark by their name.
- A new shop: one tab bar and one grid, with every item shown big and centred.
- New badges get their own moment on screen when you earn them.
- A new end screen: the winner on a podium, the crowd below, and your flight log.
- Lots of phone fixes, and a cleaner Infinite screen on small phones.
- Find friends by name, including players who still have an automatic callsign.
- Answers that aren’t on the list are now checked by AI, and right ones are added for everyone.
- Stricter answer matching: a surname alone only counts for the well known answers.
- The final screen keeps everyone who finished, even if they leave.
- Crews get rewards, ranks and a weekly race, with a map of how far each crew has flown.
- Premium cases can be skipped straight to the result.
- An Open Orbit rating, worked out from who you beat, with its own leaderboard.
- Crew invite links, and a quick recap of your week on Mondays.
- Prompts that only made sense in one US state or city were removed.
- Nichenaut moved to its own address, nichenaut.app.
- Named crews: weekly expeditions with coin stages, and a crews leaderboard.
- Hundreds of Supernova answers that weren’t really rare were swapped for ones that are.
- Streak freezes and a streak calendar.
- A daily spin wheel.
- Invite friends to earn an exclusive banner, trail, name tag and character.
- The big prompt overhaul: more than 2,000 prompts with rebuilt answer lists and tiers.
- Smarter answer checking for surnames, nicknames, model names and typos.
- Results and standings show each player’s character instead of a coloured dot.
- Answer fixes from player feedback.
- Open Orbit chat is always on, and you see who joins and leaves your room.
- Practice: try any prompt and see what an answer would score.
- Infinite gets a restart key.
- Nichenaut launches: host a mission for friends or a class, Open Orbit, solo Infinite and themed missions, the shop, cases and the locker.
