Nichenaut is a free general-knowledge and vocabulary quiz that runs in the browser. Everyone answers the same prompt, like “name a river in Europe” or “name a word that rhymes with light”. Right answers that fewer people give score more, so it rewards knowing a subject well rather than typing fast.

Ways to play

• A class or a group. One person hosts on a big screen and everyone joins from their own device with a short room code. Class mode takes up to 25 players.
• Solo. Themed sets of seven prompts on one topic (science and nature, geography, history, language and more), or an endless run.
• Open Orbit. Short public rounds with general prompts only.

For teachers and schools

• Free, with no adverts and nothing to install. No account or email is needed to play.
• Prompts cover general knowledge, geography, science, history, words and language.
• A host can remove players and skip any prompt.
• Private rooms have no chat, only preset reactions. Chat in public rounds is filtered, can be reported, and is moderated.
• An 18+ prompt pack exists for adult hosts only; it is off unless the host turns it on, and never used in public rounds.
• What is kept about players is set out in the privacy notice.
